Claim: John Dumelo endorses government trading platform

Verdict: Fake

Explanation

Based on our visual analysis, we observed notable signs in the video that indicate it is likely fake. Firstly, the tone of the speakers is inconsistent with the original tone of John Dumelo and Umaru Sanda, as well as their natural sound. Secondly, irregular gestures were observed, which were inconsistent with their verbal statements and hand movements. Furthermore, we run the video through the InVid Verification Application’s Deepfake detector. The results showed 98 per cent evidence of Ai manipulation.

An analysis of the web address which accompanied the video contains suspicious URL parameters. That string of UTM tags ({{campaign.name}}, pixel=…, token=…) resembles a tracking link commonly used in ad campaigns or phishing attempts. Phishing is a type of cyberattack where attackers try to trick people into giving up sensitive information such as passwords, credit card numbers, or personal data by pretending to be a trustworthy source.
